Mobile Phone Service to Remain Suspended in Islamabad for Next Three Days

The government has decided to suspend mobile phone service for three days in Islamabad in view of an important meeting of Extraordinary Session of Council of Foreign Ministers of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) on Afghanistan.

According to details, the federal government has decided to suspend mobile phone service for three days from tomorrow (i.e. December 17, 18, 19). Sources said that an important meeting of OIC foreign ministers is going to be held in Islamabad, in view of which this decision was taken.

Interior Ministry sources told Baaghi TV that mobile service will be suspended in Islamabad for the next three days. In this regard, the Interior Ministry has issued an order to the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) to shut down the mobile service.

Sources said that the Foreign Ministry had recommended a public holiday in Islamabad on December 20, 2021 to enable full proof security during the VIP movement. Moreover, the government has also announced closure of all educational institutes (private and government) ‘in the limits of Rawalpindi City areas excluding Cantonment areas’ on December 18, 2021 (Saturday).

It is to be noted that Pakistan will host the OIC session in Islamabad on December 19, 2021. Pakistan has invited representatives from the United States (US), Russia, China, France and the United Kingdom (UK), Germany, Japan, Canada and Australia, while high level representatives from Afghanistan have also been invited.

The meeting will draw the world’s attention to Afghanistan and the Afghan representatives will tell the world about their situation.
