Former Home Minister and Chairman of the Institute of Research and Reforms (IRR), Senator Rehman Malik, says, “Modi should remember that India will have to leave Kashmir, just like the United States, soon. 

Rehman Malik terms Syed Ali Shah Gilani as an icon of freedom fighters. Not only for the Kashmiris but also for the freedom fighters around the world. Fighting against Indian oppression, Kashmiris will take back their fundamental right, independence.

Rehman Malik held a condolence reference to pay homage to the late Syed Ali Shah Gilani, a prominent Kashmiri leader and former head of the All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC). The people who attended included Senator Mushahid Hussain Syed, Senator Sana Jamali, Chaudhry Iftikhar Ahmed, senior journalists, and PPP workers.

The memorial began with the recitation of the Holy Quran and the Naat of the Holy Prophet, followed by prayers for the soul of Syed Ali Shah Gilani and condolences to his family and the Kashmiris.

Senator Rehman Malik said that Syed Ali Gilani led the Kashmir movement for the right to independence. All his life, he was in favor of the annexation of Kashmir to Pakistan. The entire Pakistani nation is shocked and upset at the death of Syed Ali Gilani. They salute his bravery and struggle against Indian rule.

Former Home Minister also refers to Syed Ali Shah Gilani a man of principles and states,

“He was a man willing to battle for his country’s liberation from unlawful Indian occupation. The cowardly and tyrannical ruler of India was even afraid of the corpse of Syed Ali Gilani, so he buried him in the dark of night. And while his entire family was in jail, it is the culmination of oppression that Syed Ali Gilani’s family was not allowed to attend his funeral, but India must remember that the system of oppression cannot last long.”

Rehman Malik further said, “Modi has turned the entire Kashmir Valley into a prison and torture cell. While these atrocities are actively happening, the international community including the United Nations and the OIC have turned a blind eye to Kashmir.”

“We have been playing on India’s pitch since day one. the government should immediately go to the International Court of Justice for crimes against humanity by Indian forces and Prime Minister Narendra Modi,” he continued. 

Senator Mushahid Hussain Syed told the people that Syed Ali Shah Gilani was the greatest advocate of Kashmir’s accession to Pakistan, and he always raised this slogan. For him, the goal of Kashmir’s independence was to be under the Government of Pakistan. Syed Ali Gilani had dedicated his entire life to Kashmir, and he endured all kinds of atrocities.

He said that it was never possible to suppress the independence movement by force. The time was not far when Kashmir would be liberated from the illegal occupation of India. When Pakistan tested its atomic bomb in 1998, Syed Ali Gilani opened it. Generally celebrated and expressed happiness.

Mushahid Hussain Syed said that the late Gilani was a fearless man. His niece Asiya Andrabi has been in an Indian jail for ten years. His entire family is fighting for freedom.

Senator Sana Jamali said that Syed Ali Gilani was a hero not only of Kashmir but of the whole of Pakistan. He said that he gave the slogan to the youth that we are Pakistanis and Pakistan is ours. Syed Ali Gilani’s slogan will resound till the morning of Kashmir’s independence which is not far away.

Senior journalist Tahir Khalil and PPP leader Chaudhry Iftikhar Ahmed also addressed the conference and paid tribute to Syed Ali Gilani.
