According to the NCOC, COVID-19 is spreading at alarming rates with 146 deaths and 4,696 new cases in 24-hours. Meanwhile, 48,740 tests were conducted in the last 24-hours.

The positivity rate is reported to be 9.63% as mortality rate is confirmed to be 17,957 deaths while the total number of affected people has reached 825,519.

Meanwhile, the NCOC has declared 26 districts to be high-risk in Pakistan with a country-wide inoculation drive vaccinating people over the ages of 50 and 60. Moreover, registration has been initiated for people above the age of 40 and inoculation is expected to begin from next week.

The government is urging people between the age of 40 to 49, to register for vaccination by sending the CNIC number an sms to 1166. According to the NCOC, despite it being a public holiday, vaccination centers are actively operating on the 1st of May.
