Mufti Taqi Usmani survives deadly attack
July 8, 2021: On Thursday morning, Mufti Taqi Usmani escaped a knife attack on Darul Uloom Korangi in Karachi. He was attacked after Fajr prayers. The accused went to Alam under the pretext of talking to him. Mufti Osmani’s guard stopped the attacker. He was caught by the guards and handed over to the police.
According to reports, the attacker was apprehended by the guard of Mufti Taqi Usmani and handed over to the police. SSP Korangi said that a suspect has been arrested from Darul Uloom and a knife has been recovered. The suspect tried to approach the religious scholar Mufti Taqi Usmani. The bodyguard found a person who wanted to meet Mufti Taqi Usmani. The knife came out. The detained suspect wanted to meet Mufti Taqi Usmani separately after Fajr prayers. The suspect claims to have met Mufti Taqi Osmani on a domestic issue.
In March 2019, a guard and driver were killed when assailants opened fire on Mufti Muhammad Taqi Usmani’s car at Nipa Chowrangi in Karachi, Gulshan-e-Iqbal. Amir Shehab, Khatib of Baitul Mukarram Mosque was injured in the same attack. East DIG Amir Farooqi said that contrary to previous reports, the incidents were the same.
