Muhammad Nabi asks reporters to stick to cricket after politics related question

Oct 30, 2021: Political stresses back home have not left the Afghan national team alone, even as it competes in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup and plays great cricket.

The team is constantly bombarded with questions about home conditions and plans for the future. A similar question was posed to Afghan captain Mohammad Nabi when his team lost to Pakistan by five wickets on Friday. A reporter asked Nabi if his team feared the Taliban-led government in Afghanistan would question him when he returned to his country.

“Afghanistan have played very well and they have won two matches. Is there any kind of fear that when you return home, you will be questioned as the government and situation have changed? In this new era, Afghanistan shares a healthy relation with Pakistan. Do you feel that the Afghan team will be strengthened because of this?” the journalist asked the skipper.

Surprised by the journalist’s question, the captain asked him to take a different approach to the question – and stick to the questions about cricket. Nabi replied, “Can we put the situation aside and talk about cricket? It would be better if we talk about cricket. We are here for the World Cup after proper preparations. You are cricket. You can ask any question about, “replied the Prophet. The moderator of the press conference intervened and asked the reporter to stick to the questions related to cricket.

On this, the journalist said that he was asking questions about cricket. Replying to the reporter, Nabi said that his questions were not related to cricket.

In Afghanistan’s match against Pakistan yesterday, Asif Ali came on the scene once again, walked out amid high pressure and hit four sixes to ensure that Pakistan won the T20 match against Afghanistan.

Pakistan needed 148 runs to win their third T20 World Cup match against Afghanistan and qualify for the semi-finals. Captain Babar Azam and Fakhr Zaman formed a strong partnership before Nabi LBWed the left-arm batsman. Babar Azam eased Pakistan’s pressure by scoring another half-century.

However, the Pakistani captain was later dismissed by Rashid Khan.
