My Beloved Pakistan: Remembering the sacrifices that made the country

August 14, 2021, Pakistan observes 75th Independence Day. On August 14, 1947, our elders won a separate country under the enthusiastic leadership of the Father of the Nation, Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah. Countless sacrifices have been made to win this country. They Sacrificed honors, shed the blood of innocents, the youth embraced martyrdom, rejected wealth. After years of constant struggle, our elders were able to achieve this free homeland.
This homeland recognized us, gave us respect, gave us a distinct identity in the world, it freed us from fear. This homeland gave us innumerable opportunities to express our talents, this country brought innumerable comforts in our lives.
It is pertinent to mention, that because of this country, our generations are able to breathe in the open air, travel around the world, use world-famous brands. This country has given us immense honor, status, and places internally and externally. It has given us opportunities and resources to celebrate our happiness, because of this country we are able to get higher education.
Moreover, this country has given us innumerable opportunities to move forward. It gives us protection and religious freedom. It was because of this country that we were given the opportunity to perform our religious duties freely, this country gave our generations mental and physical freedom. All the comforts we have today are due to this freedom. The foundations of the freedom we enjoy today include the countless martyrs, the honors of women, the bodies of children, the sacrifices of mothers and sisters.
When our ancestors migrated to Pakistan, there was nothing here, no clothes to wear, no food, no doctors and hospitals when we fell ill, no facilities to travel, no electricity, the means of education were very limited. There were no opportunities to move forward and show off, there was poverty and hunger. Our elders came here in a world of disadvantage. This country took care of us, developed us, took care of us, and gave us a place to live.
This country gave us opportunities to develop. First, we came on foot, then we came by bicycle, and then we came by car. Eventually, we were able to travel from a smaller to a bigger car. We started traveling in airplanes, we were able to enjoy the pleasures in luxury. Slowly, all the comforts of the world came to us. We started building farmhouses with farms, we grew by burning candles and became capable of expensive and imported lights, our cities expanded, roads were built, from one place to another getting around became easier with each passing day.
Although in the past, there used to be one or two doctors in the whole city, now there is a clinic and a hospital in every street, once there was a government school for a large area, now dozens of educational institutions are spreading the light of knowledge, educating the youth in colleges and universities. We had generations that did not what a burger is. Today, world-famous food is available everywhere, we eat burgers and pizza.
Now, Countless restaurants offer us scrumptious food and fulfilling life. Today we enjoy the latest desserts, the traditional swings at fairs have been replaced by art factories. Tea is sold in ways that no one would have imagined in the fifties. We continued to grow by eating onions and today step by step comfort is waiting for us.
We enjoy every luxury in the world with one click. The best and most expensive outfits give us a sense of well-being. Dozens of different types of soaps and perfumes reflect our progress. Our baths have become salons, today a person spends thousands of rupees on a haircut. These and countless other blessings are due to this free homeland. This country changed our living style, freed us from slavery, and took us from earth to heaven. This holy motherland grew us in a way that the great mother could do. It changed us completely. Those who were our kings, those of whom we were slaves, this holy land made us equal to them.
What have we done so far for our country?
While I was writing this article, a question arose in my mind that, Freedom has been paid by our elders but what have we given to this motherland? Today should be not only Independence Day but also be Accountability Day, personal accountability for which no NAB is required. This accountability requires a sense and a conscience. Let us be accountable for what we have taken from the motherland and what we have given to this country. Have we properly performed our national duties? What promise we have made to our beloved country? The country has given us everything.
In response, what have we given to the country? Let’s re-visit a bitter truth, we have divided this country into two parts, we have not been able to handle the trust of the elders for even thirty years, we have spread injustice in this land, we killed Blood relationships, feeding humans the flesh of animals. The land has witnessed how we have violated the sanctity of relationships, this land has always endured, but we have promoted intolerance, this land has ended our poverty but we robbed the rights of the poor, this land accepted us, this land saw that we cut our own throats, this land provided a roof and we snatched the roof of the people and we failed to in-compliance What promise have we made to our beloved country.
This land taught us a lesson of peace, while we slaughtered this land, strangled justice in the country, massacred merit, this country gave us religious freedom and we are dangerously divided here in the name of religion. This land taught us a lesson of tolerance, but in return we promoted extremism.
A way forward
I think, if the people who migrated are alive today and have a memory, then the government should first collect the details of all these people, and record them. The events of migration should be spread in the best way through Pakistan Television to reach the younger generation by working on this project we will not only work on preserving our history but also give the younger generation an idea of how the country was acquired.
What was the purpose of acquiring this country, under what circumstances did we get here, and what did we do with this country later? At the national level, we have never remembered the freedom fights of movement of Pakistan, the emigrants, or those who hosted them. We say we have nothing to show, in fact, we don’t want to show.
Every migrant has a history within himself, the hosts of the migrants have a history with themselves. Why do we hide the events of the movement of Pakistan, the creation of Pakistan, and migration? We have made progress even in difficult circumstances. The conditions that existed at the time of the establishment of Pakistan today, education, housing, health, travel, food, communication, and information, every aspect of life has developed. If there is any error or evil, it is because of our deeds.
Today, our spirits are low, our senses are low, and our spirit of self-sacrifice is low. Tolerance and patience have decreased. If we remove our shortcomings, then indeed the country is heaven. This is the reward of almighty Allah, this is the gift of Allah, if we do not appreciate it, then it is ingratitude. The government should work on the plans of movement of Pakistan, the creation of Pakistan, and the foundation of Pakistan. We call the country bad all the time. Just sit and think and see what we have given to this country. Why we are working on plans to take from this country on the 75th Independence Day. Why don’t we give to this country, we can be thankful instead of ungrateful all the time.
At the time of migration, the country took care of us. We are not succeeding in taking care of our country together. Every child should remember why our elders got a separate homeland, there should be no doubt about it, and there should be no other opinion about it. We have to take care of each other’s rights to “become a nation”. We must cultivate a spirit of service to this great motherland.
Today, we should be accountable in front of ourselves. The freedom fighters’ movement of Pakistan is the real hero of this nation. We must run a nationwide campaign to promote the two-nation ideology, it should be a part of our life. Plans should be made at the government level to promote the two-nation ideology. Seminars should be held to promote this ideology as much as possible. Schools, colleges, universities, and religious institutions should be brought together, the message should be conveyed from house to house why a separate homeland was necessary. Our enemy still attacks our foundation today because of the ideology on which a separate country was obtained. The government will have to take revolutionary steps to unite the younger generation in today’s modern age. On this Independence Day, let us pledge to play our part in promoting the two-nation ideology. Today, we should pay tribute to our national heroes.
May Allah keep this country alive forever! May our future generations be empowered to work for the development of Islam and Pakistan! (Ameen)
Long live Pakistan!
