Lahore, 4th August 2020: The list of 11 England players in the first Test against Pakistan at Manchester’s Old Trafford Ground on Wednesday is out now.
England will return to the field with the same 11 players with whom they won the third Test against the West Indies by 269 runs from July 24 to 28.
Remember, the English team led by Root won two consecutive Tests against the West Indies in Manchester. Now they will play the first Test against Pakistan on the same ground.
The England and Wales Cricket Board has announced the names of 14 players for the Test match, including three fast bowlers Sean Kiran, Mark Wood, and middle-order batsman Zack Crowley, who will not be part of the first Test squad.
England will field four fast bowlers and a spinner in the first Test.
Eleven players in England’s first Test are: Dom Sibley, Rory Burns, Joe Root (captain), Ben Stoke, Ole Pope, Jose Butler (wicket-keeper), Dominic Base, Stuart Broad, Chris Vokes, Joffra Archer, and James Anderson.
The good news for the England team is that 29-year-old all-rounder Ben Stoke is fully fit and will be able to bowl against Pakistan.
Ben Stoke played as a batsman in the third Test against the West Indies.
