National Assembly to be suspended amid virus fears

Lahore, 14th March: Offices of the National Assembly Secretariat will remain closed for two days.

Baaghi TV: According to reports, all activities of the National Assembly have been partially suspended after a rise in coronavirus cases during the past weeks.

A statement has been issued by the Administration Department of the National Assembly Secretariat in this regard.

As per the statement, all the meetings of the National Assembly Standing Committee, Public Accounts, and Special Committees have been cancelled.

According to reports, the offices of the National Assembly will remain closed till March 16, 2021.

The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has been instructed to disinfect all offices with germicides. Whereas, the staff have also been instructed to conduct immediate tests in case of any symptoms of coronavirus.

The statement added that the officers concerned will be able to call the necessary staff to the office from March 17 and the office hours will be from 10 am to 4 pm from then onwards.

As per reports, in order to enter the premises of the National Assembly, face masks have been made mandatory.
