There is the greatest reduction in testing in Sindh and a significant one in Punjab. The NCOC asked the provinces for the reason for decreasing tests over the week from 21st June onwards. Secretary Health of Sindh informed the forum that the amount of testing is reduced due to some administrative reasons which will be resolved in the coming 2 to 3 days and the testing will increase.

Provinces said that there is a reduction in the demand for testing and people are giving preference to home isolation. There is also a reduction in the number of people showing symptoms.

There is a restriction in movement due to a lockdown of 542 areas in 20 cities all over the country since 14th June. The provinces have informed the NCOC regarding the precautionary measures in areas under smart lockdown that there has been a marked change in the attitude of the public. People are following the SOPs and due to specialised and timely information and receiving of directions from the NCOC, there has been an increase in awareness amongst the public.

The provinces informed the NCOC about the implementation of precautionary measures in industries, markets, transportation networks, courts, government offices, mosques and public gatherings. In regard to the precautionary SOPs it became clear that the best implementation by a difference, was in the courts. However further effort is required to implement SOPs in markets and shopping malls. Similarly in hospitals, isolation centres, and quarantine centres, there was a very good implementation of the SOPs but a less effective one in the transport networks. The provinces supported the NCOC’s TTQ and precautions. That helped them in the targeted lockdown.

Asad Umar lauded the 24/7 efforts of all the provinces especially of the field staff, who are putting the protection of the public above their own and working tirelessly to control the pandemic. Their efforts are visibly bearing fruit. Asad Umar said that we specially needed to enforce the following of SOPs especially the wearing of face-masks and social distancing. He said that the provinces will be helped wherever they need it, especially in the providing of PCR testing kits to Balochistan.
