NCOC: Unvaccinated people banned from train travel after September 15

Sept 2, 2021: People who have not yet been vaccinated against the novel coronavirus will not be allowed on trains after September 15 as per the directions of the NCOC.

According to the National Command and Operations Center (NCOC), unvaccinated people will not be given tickets. All passengers, railway officers and crew members must receive the first dose of the covid vaccine by September 15. They must be fully vaccinated by October 15.

Mobile vaccination centers have been set up at railway stations across the country to facilitate passengers and railway staff. Railway officials have also put up banners and posters on vaccine awareness. The NCOC added that the stationmaster would be punished if a passenger was allowed to board trains without a vaccinated certificate.

According to the spokesperson of Railways, if any passenger is identified without vaccination during ticket checking, action will be taken against him or her.

Earlier, in line with NCOC directives, Pakistan Railways had made vaccination certificate mandatory for travel in trains. A spokesperson of Railways said that vaccination certificate would be mandatory for persons above 20 years of age to travel in Pakistan Railways. From September, passengers without vaccinations will be charged an additional 10%.

The decision was taken after experts and the NCOC warned Pakistan is battling the fourth wave of the deadly virus. In the last 24 hours, 3,559 new cases were reported across the country, while 101 people succumbed to coronavirus.

It is to be noted that in line with NCOC’s efforts to curb the spread of the fourth wave of the corona virus, it was decided earlier that the district administration of Lahore should start checking the corona vaccine certificate at petrol pumps. Now petrol will be available only to those who have been vaccinated with corona virus vaccine.

Assistant Commissioner Cantt Zeeshan Nasrullah Ranjha is active in the DHA area and those who come to the petrol pumps in the DHA area are being checked. Assistant Commissioner Cantt Zeeshan Nasrullah Ranjha also instructed the petrol pump staff not to provide petrol to those without vaccination. He said that petrol should not be given to those without vaccination. DC Lahore Omar Sher Chatha has issued strict instructions not to give petrol to those without vaccination.

In addition to this, the NCOC has also imposed a slew of other restrictions including; making it compulsory for students of or above the age of 17 years to get fully vaccinated by October 15, only fully vaccinated people will be allowed to board on both international and domestic flights from September 30.

The NCOC has also said that unvaccinated people visiting and working at malls, hotels, restaurants, and guest houses won’t be allowed inside after September 30 and unvaccinated people will be barred from using public transport after October 15 and only fully vaccinated people will be allowed on motorways and highways after October 31.
