#NCOCcancelexams: Ali Zafar, Mehwish Hayat urge govt to reconsider exams

Lahore, 25th April: With the students protesting against the government’s decision to hold the Cambridge exams in Pakistan amid the third wave of coronavirus, celebrities have also come forward to stand with them.
Cambridge students who are to appear for their CAIE exams for O and A-Levels at the end of this month are distressed after first the education ministry and then the major high courts of the country dismissed their plea to cancel the exams.
Regarding this matter, Pakistani singer/actor Ali Zafar has urged the government to reconsider taking exams in the current coronavirus situation where the number of positive cases and deaths are on a rise.
The singer took to his Twitter account and said “I am not fully aware of the technicalities but would like to request/urge the government to reconsider exams in the current Covid scenario.”

He further said, “Students are under great stress.”
Meanwhile, Pakistani actress Mehwish Hayat also requested Federal Minister for Education Shafqat Mahmood to cancel Cambridge exams this year amid rising coronavirus cases across the country.
It is wrong that students are being forced to take exams. Not only is it dangerous with the 3rd wave taking hold but is unfair when education has been so disrupted! I humbly request @Shafqat_Mahmood to cancel exams this year as other countries have done.#cancelexamspakistan2021

It is pertinent to mention here that keeping in view the situation of pandemic across the world, Cambridge exams in England were cancelled earlier this year.
However, many countries like India, Bangladesh, Oman, UAE and Qatar also announced to cancel the exams in 2021.
Earlier, Baaghi TV reported that the renowned journalist and anchorperson Mubahser Lucman, PML-N vice president Maryam Nawaz and young singer Asim Azhar also raised their voices for the safety and health of students.
