New school timings amid the rise in coronavirus cases
Lahore, 16th October: New school timings will be observed in Punjab from 16th October 2020.
According to Baaghi TV, Punjab Education Minister Murad Raas has issued new timings for the schools across the province.
According to a notification issued by the Provincial School Education Department, timings in Punjab will go into effect from 16 October 2020 and remain in place until 31 March 2021.
The new school timings have been divided into single-shit and double-shift system. The timings according to the notice from Monday to Thursday and then Saturday will be from 8.30 am till 1.30 pm and on Friday, the timings will be from 8.30 am till 12.15 pm for the schools that are operating in a single-shift.

Furthermore, the notification states that the Chief Executive Officer (DEA) concerned may make adjustment of 15 minutes in opening and closing time of boys and girls schools on case to case basis keeping in view the local problems but the study hours shall be strictly observed.
Moreover, the headteacher in consultation with the concerned Controlling Officer may make a plan for a 10-minute recess (2 times) daily except on Friday with students’ break up in such a manner that proper social distancing as per standard operating procedures (SOPs) is maintained.
On the one hand, the coronavirus cases are on a rise in the country, and on the other hand, we see an increase in the school timings making it hard for the children to stay for so long with their masks on and that too inside their classrooms only.
