According to the report of Baaghi TV, Punjab Provincial Minister Dr. Yasmeen Rashid has said that the UK strain of COVID-19 coming to Pakistan, is by no means the incompetence of the government.
Dr. Yasmeen Rashid said that the affected areas have been locked down. Educational institutions have been closed for two weeks by the Punjab government. Vaccination is underway in Punjab, 18,000 people have been vaccinated.
On the other hand, Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar directed the administration to ensure implementation of Corona SOPs. Usman Buzdar said that the current wave of corona is more dangerous than ever. Relevant authorities ensure implementation of new SOPs in all cases. There will be no compromise on the protection of people’s lives. Protecting the lives of citizens is a top priority. The work of vaccinating senior citizens against corona should be intensified. The police, the administration should enforce the closing times of the markets, the business community should put the lives of the people first.
Following the new wave of corona, smart lockdown was imposed in 7 cities of Punjab till March 29. New restrictions have been imposed in Lahore, Rawalpindi, Sargodha, Faisalabad, Multan, Gujranwala and Gujarat. Markets and bazaars will be closed by 5 pm until March 29, while there will be a full shutter down on Saturday and Sunday. Amusement parks and parks will be locked at 6 p.m. Cinema halls, theaters, marriage halls, community centers and marquees are completely closed, only open spaces will be allowed to function, with more than 300 people unable to attend. Only takeaways are allowed in restaurants and cafes, while medical services, petrol pumps and essentials shops will be open 24 hours a day. Only 50% of staff in public and private offices are allowed to call.
Following the escalation of Corona cases, the Islamabad administration sealed off two more sectors. G6/2 and G10/4 were also sealed. Earlier, Smart Lockdown was installed in Sector F-11/1, I-8/4 and I-10/2. Commercial activities in the federal capital will be closed from Friday to Sunday including all amusement parks etc. will also be closed during these three days. Deputy Commissioner Islamabad Hamza Shafqat said that new cases of Corona virus from UK have come to light in Islamabad. All events have been canceled on the instructions of the NCOC and the decision to allow gatherings has been withdrawn. No indoor event of any kind will be allowed, less than 300 people will be allowed in the open for only two hours.
Smart lockdown has also started in 4 areas of Rawalpindi. Traffic was restricted at Sadiqabad Street No. 4, Allama Iqbal Colony Street No. 27, Azizabad’s Qasr Abu Talib and Dhok Paracha. New SOPs were set up for seven districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Markets in Peshawar, Mardan, Nowshera, Swat, Charsadda and Swabi will be closed at 8 p.m. Indoor celebrations in wedding halls and restaurants were completely banned. Medicine, bakery, grocery and other essentials will remain open.
It may be recalled that yesterday, the Provincial Minister for Health, Dr. Yasmeen Rashid, accompanied by the Special Assistant to the Prime Minister for Health, Dr. Faisal Sultan, visited the Expo Vaccination Center and reviewed the vaccination process for people over 60 years of age. PPP leader Aitzaz Ahsan, a well-known advocate, also vaccinated his wife and appreciated the Punjab government’s arrangements.
