National Highways and Motorway Police (NHMP) and Press Club Sheikhupura jointly organized a Road Safety Seminar at Press Club Sheikhupura.
The Seminar aimed at importance of following traffic rules and adopting road safety measures. The Seminar organized on special instructions of Commandant NHMP Training College DIG Mehboob Aslam was attended by large number of senior journalists of Press Club Sheikhupura, officers of Motorway Police and people from different walks of life.
Deputy Commandant NHMP Training College Timur Khan, General Secretary Press Club Sheikhupura Rana Muhammad Usman, road safety officer of NHMP Training College Muhammad Saleem and other speakers highlighted on different important aspects of road safety.
Addressing the participants of Road Safety Seminar Deputy Commandant NHMP Training College Timur Khan said that road accidents are a global challenge as millions of people lose their lives in road crashes. He further told that currently road crashes are eighth leading cause of death by any form of disease but if the current ratio of accidents continues, it will become fifth leading cause of death by 2030.
It was also informed to the participants that road accidents are leading cause of death among people from five to twenty nine. Deputy Commandant Timur Khan stressed that observance of traffic rules and road safety measures is need of the hour to safe precious human lives and properties.
Talking at the occasion General Secretary Press Club Sheikhupura Rana Muhammad Usman said that road safety is a collective issue which requires an active and joint role from all segments of society. He further added that the role of media is very important in creating road safety awareness among people and media has always tried to perform its role without any fail.
The participants were shown different videos relating to important road safety issues by Road Safety Team of NHMP Training College. In Road Safety Seminar special focus was laid on importance of using Helmet while riding a bike, use of back view mirrors, fastening seat belt while driving a vehicle, blind spots, dozing at wheel, distracted driving and other important road safety issues.
At the end of the event souvenirs were given by Deputy Commandant Timur Khan to General Secretary Press Club Sheikhupura on behalf of NHMP Training College.
