No sign of electricity in Karachi

Karachi: Power supply has been suspended in different parts of the city for the last 24 hours. Protests have started in different areas over power cuts.

According to Baaghi TV, Lyari Miran Naka area of Karachi has been without power for two days due to which people are in dire straits. Gulshan-e-Iqbal Block 13D is also without power which was protested by the locals. Protests are also being held in Gulistan-e-Jauhar against power outages. Protesters blocked Korangi Expressway.

Meanwhile, a spokesman for K-Electric said that with the lowering of water level in the city, power restoration in the affected areas is in full swing. In the last few hours, more than 150 feeders have been rehabilitated.

According to the spokesman, power has been restored in West Wharf, Fisheries, Site, Super Highway, North Karachi, FB Area, Rizvia Society, PECHS and several other areas.

K-Electric said that rehabilitation work is underway in Defense, Clifton and other affected areas with drainage of rain water and is in constant touch with the concerned agencies for rehabilitation of electricity.
