Noor Muqaddam murder case: Decision reserved on bail plea of ​​accused's parents

A local court in the federal capital Islamabad has remanded Zahir Jaffer in the murder case of Noor Muqaddam, to police custody for further investigation.

According to police officials, a seven-day remand was requested from the court but the duty magistrate granted a two-day remand. Earlier, an FIR was registered against Jaffer for the murder of Noor Muqaddam, the 27 year old daughter of former Pakistani diplomat Shaukat Ali Muqaddam.

Baaghi TV has received a copy of the First Information Report (FIR) that was filed by the former ambassador and father of the victim, Shaukat Muqaddam, against Zahir Jaffer, son of a leading businessman of the country. According to the FIR, the murder case was registered under section 302.

A formal application was submitted by the former ambassador which stated that Noor Muqaddam, on July 19, 2021 left the house in his and his wife’s absence. The application further said that they were told that Noor was going to Lahore with friends and she will be back in a day or two.

The FIR further reveals that on Tuesday afternoon, Zahir Jaffer called Noor’s family confirming that she was not with him, however, later that night the victim’s family received a call from the Kohsar police confirming her murder. Noor Mukaddam was slaughtered after being shot at a house, located in Sector F-7/4 of Islamabad.

Furthermore, a friend of Noor Muqaddam had been arrested over his alleged involvement in the murder, police said. “The alleged killer is a son of a leading businessman of the country,” police said.

According to police officials, the girl’s father told the police that his daughter had left home on the 19th but her phone number was blocked after that. However, when contacted again, the victim said that she was going to Lahore. According to police, a report of his murder was later received in Islamabad.

“I went inside the house and saw that my daughter had been brutally killed and her head had been cut off from her body with a sharp instrument,” said the former ambassador and father of the victim.

Baaghi TV has learnt that Zahir Jaffer is a member of the Jaffer Group of Companies, the Chief Brand Strategist for Ahmed Jaffer & Company (Private) Limited and owner of multiple companies like Jaffer Brothers (Private) Limited, Jafferjees (Private) Limited, SM Jaffer Private Limited and AJCL Travel & Tours etc.

It has been alleged that Jaffer, an American national, planned the murder of Noor Muqaddam and further plans to flee the country. Furthermore, it has been revealed that Jaffer is not mentally ill as he is healthy enough to run the business. His name must be put on the Exit Control List (ECL).

Ex-diplomat’s daughter killed in Islamabad

Police officials said that the murder was reported to the police through a phone call and the accused was present when the police went to the given address. The police has not revealed the identity of the caller yet. Noor’s body was taken to a government hospital for the post-mortem, however, the report is still awaited.

The deceased, identified as Noor Mukaddam, was the daughter of Shaukat Mukaddam, who served as Pakistan’s ambassador to South Korea and Kazakhstan. After this incident, outrage is being seen across Pakistan and #JusticeForNoor and #JusticeForNoorMukadam are trending on social media.
