North Waziristan: Soldier martyred in a landmine blast

RAWALPINDI: A Pakistan Army soldier was martyred in a landmine blast in North Waziristan district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, according to reports.

According to a statement issued by the Pakistan Army Public Relations (ISPR), a landmine exploded near a security forces checkpoint in the North Waziristan District of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

According to ISPR, soldier Sajid was martyred in the blast. Meanwhile, forces have cordoned off the area and launched a clearance operation.

It may be recalled that on the 3rd of this month, a roadside mine planted by terrorists in North Waziristan exploded, injuring Lt. Nasir Hussain, Naik Muhammad Imran and soldier Usman Akhtar martyred and four youths were injured.

According to ISPR, the mine was laid by terrorists in North Waziristan. A landmine blast killed Lieutenant Nasir Hussain and two others while injuring four others.

The martyrs include Lieutenant Nasir Hussain, Naik Muhammad Imran and soldier Usman Akhtar. Martyr Lieutenant Nasir Hussain Khalid belongs to Muzaffarabad, Naik Muhammad Imran Shaheed belongs to Faisalabad while martyred soldier Usman Akhtar belongs to Rawalpindi.

Officers guarded the road construction team in the Gharium sector. Security forces cordoned off the area and launched a search operation.

It may be recalled that on August 31 last month, three security personnel were martyred and four others were injured in a firing incident in South Waziristan.

According to ISPR, terrorists opened fire on security forces during a search operation in South Waziristan, killing Subedar Nadeem, soldier Saleem and Lance Naik Musoor. Four security personnel were also injured in the firing.
