Islamabad, 16th August: Reportedly false ceilings of the International Islamabad Airport has collapsed after the heavy downpour in the city.

According to reports, Federal Minister Ghulam Sarwar and Director General Civil Aviation Authority took notice of the damage caused by rain at New Islamabad Airport and demanded a comprehensive report of the incident from the administrative officers.

Abdul Sattar Khokhar, Senior Joint Secretary of the Aviation Division, said that after the report from the Project Manager and Airport Manager of New Islamabad Airport, the DG has been directed to solve the problem of faulty construction of the roof of the airport permanently within 3 days. The solution includes changing the design of drainage and drains at the airport.

In this regard, Federal Minister for Aviation Ghulam Sarwar Khan will also visit the airport on August 17.

A spokesman for the Aviation Division said that 56 mm of rain was recorded in less than 90 minutes during the heavy rains on the morning of August 14 on the day of the incident. The ceiling collapsed due to heavy water leakage at various locations of the International Departure Lounge.
