NTDC Signs Agreement for the Transmission of Electricity from Wind Power Plants

Karachi: National Authority has signed a major agreement for the transmission of electricity from wind power plants. According to reports, NTDC has entered into a financial facility agreement of Rs 6.4 billion with banks for transmission of electricity from wind power plants.

According to details, National Transmission and Dispatch Company has entered into an agreement with a banking consortium for a financing facility of Rs. 6400 million to add 1224 MW of power to the system from wind power projects.

Rs 6.4 billion will be spent on construction of 220/132 KV substation Jhampir II and 35 km transmission lines to add 1224 MW power to the national grid, which will enable wind power plants in the Jhampir wind corridor. Renewable energy will be delivered.

NTDC Managing Director Engineer Muhammad Ayub said that for the first time NTDC has made it possible to get financing facility based on its own resources without any government guarantee.

He further said that out of the PC-I cost of Rs 10.753 billion for Jhampir II project, Rs 6.40 billion was required for funding. The capacity of 220 KV grid station will be increased to 500 KV.
