OGDCL discovers new oil and gas reserves in Kohat

August 24, 2020: The Oil and Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL) has discovered new oil and gas reserves in Kohat district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK).

According to details, the OGDCL has discovered new oil and gas reserves in Kohat district of KPK. Sources said that 9 million standard cubic feet per day (MMSCFD) gas will be available daily from Togh Bala Well-1, while 125 barrels of oil per day has been extracted from Togh Bala Well-1.

This is the second consecutive success in oil and gas exploration in the Kohat block. Officials say the success of Togh Bala Well-1 is the result of a brilliant exploration strategy. The new discovery will lead to significant savings in foreign exchange and increase OGDCL’s oil and gas reserves.

It may be recalled that on August 27 last year, OGDCL had said that new oil and gas reserves have been discovered in Kohat. The wells yielded 12.7 million cubic feet of gas per day and 240 barrels per day of crude oil reserves. Moreover, also in September, 76 barrels of oil and 500,000 MMSCFD of gas per day were discovered from Wargal Field in Kohat.

On July 17, 2020, Mari Petroleum discovered gas reserves in Ghotki district of Sindh that will provide 11 million cubic feet of gas per day. This was Mari Petroleum’s fifth consecutive success in the region, with more than USD 60 million invested in the project.
