Omicron likely to infect 50% of European population: WHO #Baaghi

The Omicron variant of the Covid-19 virus is likely to affect up to fifty percent of the total European population claims World Health Organization (WHO). 

According to reports, the European division of the WHO has claimed that more than half of the European population is likely to get infected with Omicron in the coming weeks. According to Hans Kluge, regional director of WHO, the region will be infected with Omicron in the next six to eight weeks. The region includes up to 53 countries including Central Asia.

As per the latest reports, WHO Europe has confirmed that over one percent of the population has been ‘catching Covid each week’. Kluge has reportedly stressed that the approved vaccines “continue to provide good protection” against “severe disease and death”. 

Meanwhile, global developments concerning Coronavirus include reports of the Mexican president confirming that he has contracted the virus once more. According to reports, President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador said that although his symptoms are mild, he will isolate and communicate virtually.
