Quetta: Blast on Fatima Jinnah road leaves 3 dead

Feb 8, 2022: A person was killed and two others were injured in a hand grenade attack in Dera Murad Jamali of Balochistan province.

A grenade was hurled at a bus stand by unknown assailants in the evening, according to a Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) spokesman. As soon as the incident was reported, police teams and bomb disposal squads rushed to the spot and cordoned off the area to gather evidence.

The incident is currently under further investigation. The deceased and injured were shifted to Civil Hospital. Security forces have cordoned off the area and started a search operation.

In a similar incident, at least six people including two Levies personnel were injured as a result of a hand grenade blast in Chaman, Balochistan. The blast occurred when two assailants, riding on a bike, attacked a Levies Check post near Roghani Road Level Cross with hand grenades.

Last week, security forces completed a clearance operation launched after an attack on terrorist camps in Panjgur and Noshki districts of the province. The army’s media wing, ISPR, said in a statement that 20 terrorists were killed during the operation, while nine security personnel were martyred.

Earlier today, Prime Minister Imran Khan paid tribute to the troops who foiled attacks on security installations in Balochistan and said that no act of terrorism could stop the Pakistani nation from moving forward as it was very strong and resilient. Addressing officers and men of Frontier Corps and Pakistan Rangers in Noshki, the Prime Minister vowed to retaliate against terrorists who are trying to stop the pace of development, especially in Balochistan.

Army Chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa, federal ministers and senior commanders were also present on the occasion.
