During the Pak-India war of 1971, Flight Lieutenant Matiur Rehman also boarded the T-3 trainer flight on August 20 and diverted the Pakistan Air Force aircraft to India for its nefarious purposes. Rashid Minhas Shaheed immediately contacted PAF Masroor base at 11:35 am and informed about the hijacking of the plane.
Rashid Minhas turned the plane from the air to the ground and it landed near Thatta, 40 km from the Indian border. In this way, while saving the dignity of the motherland, he was martyred.
Rashid Minhas Shaheed was awarded Nishan Haider in return for his sacrifice. Shaheed is the youngest officer to receive this award. Shaheed joined the Pakistan Air Force in 1968 as a pilot officer. He was commissioned in March 1971.
