Upon confiscation of the Palestinian ambassador’s car, a major court order to the FBR
According to the report of Baaghi TV, the Islamabad High Court ordered the FBR to return the car of the Palestinian ambassador.
Suspended show-cause notice related to vehicle seizure. The court restrained the Collector of Customs from taking action against the Palestinian ambassador until the next hearing. The lawyer told the court that diplomatic staff had special immunity. The Customs Collector issued a show cause notice on August 4 on the sale of the vehicle.

Palestinian Ambassador Ahmed Jawad Rabi’i has taken a stand in a petition filed in the Islamabad High Court through lawyer Sikandar Naeem Qazi that the Collector of Customs issued a notice on August 4 regarding the sale of the vehicle. Diplomatic staff enjoy special immunity under the Vienna Convention. This notice from the Customs Department violates diplomatic immunity.
The petition asks the court to order that me and my property be granted immunity under the Vienna Convention. The action of the Customs Department should be declared illegal without the opinion of the Foreign Secretary. It is illegal to seize a vehicle without giving notice to the Foreign Secretary. The show cause notice issued by the Customs Department should be declared null and void.
It is to be noted that a notice was sent to the Palestinian Ambassador by the Collector Customs on the sale of duty free vehicle. The show cause notice states that the Palestinian Mission had imported 2019 models BMW X7 and Cruiser ZX. He got tax exemption of Rs 58.2 million and Rs 18.4 million on the car respectively. The Palestinian ambassador and the car buyer could be fined up to 10 times the value of the car.
