Our Railway and the Sorry State of Affairs

We have made a ramshackle of our railway network. We also hear that Japan has gifted India bullet trains for free. As a country, are we entitled for such a luxurious gift from a friendly neighbour?

We can neither complain nor demand such a luxury, at home ours is an age old system of rail tracks which has gone to the dogs, probably it has outlived its usefulness. We never hear of any improvement or repair in this regard. Our system is pathetically poor. We are to blame ourselves and none other. We have not progressed and gone ahead even an inch further. Sadly, we are not even inching toward any of our goals.

On the other hand, China, our next door neighbour is making progress by leaps and bounds. We can only live in awe of their breathtaking speed of progress particularly in the field of trains – their modernisation, the changeable tracks synchronising rhythm and unfathomable speed. The train that never stops is unarguably an embodiment of ingenuity and flawless engineering.

The whole of China is transformed into a wonderland. Their insatiable desire to do more never diminishes. Hence more development with a lasting congenial and a conducive environment to bide time. And better but a promised future for its youth and inhabitants.

We are not cognisant of the fact that an improved system of railways could otherwise help restore and protect our road systems.

We are spending billions on roads that do not last long. With an onset of torrential rains our roads are washed away causing a dent to the exchequer. In certain cases the losses are biblical proportions. Building roads is of paramount importance.

It should not just be for the purposes of getting votes alone. We are a poor country, and cannot afford such bombastic extravaganzas. To avoid all this we must invest more in our railway system. This would guarantee an uninterrupted commute of the travellers to their desired destinations.

Another idea is to constructively help and improve the standard of our existing roads with less load on roads the structures would therefore last longer, having less payload of cargo to deal with.

Combination of effective railways and infrastructure or roads is therefore the need of the hour. The present rail road system is a reflection of the bygone British Raj. The canal system here is another marvel. The roads, the railways, and the rivers could be one of the most fascinating ways of transport if put to use.

Transporting cargo by Tuggs is another area which could have been employed to benefit people all across the country.
