Pak-Saudi Strategic Mutual Defence Agreement is defensive in nature and not directed against any third country.
At his weekly media briefing in Islamabad on Friday, Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Shafqat Ali Khan, said the agreement will contribute to regional peace, security and stability.
He said Pakistan and Saudi Arabia enjoy a long and distinguished history of brotherhood and cooperation.
The bilateral relationship of Pakistan and Saudi Arabia is unique, enduring and multifaceted and the Strategic Mutual Defence Agreement formalizes this decade-old and robust partnership.
The Spokesperson said this relationship lives in the hearts of the people of the two countries. People of Pakistan have special sentiments for Saudi Arabia, the land of Makkah and Madina and they hold the royal family in high esteem for being the custodian of the holy sites.
Shafqat Ali Khan said since the 1960s, the defence cooperation has served as one of the principle pillars of Pakistan and Saudi Arabia, all encompassing bilateral relations.
The Foreign Office Spokesperson said the statement issued by the two countries is self-explanatory and any misplaced attribution or speculation of hypothetical scenarios is unwarranted.
Replying to a question about recent statement of Indian Prime Minister about continuity of so-called Operation Sindoor, the Spokesperson said the remarks reflect a dangerous tendency to distorting the facts, justify aggression and glorify the conflicts for domestic consumption.
He said Pakistan’s resounding success in neutralizing the Indian jets and military targets is an indisputable fact. Instead of misleading the compatriots, the Indian leaders are well advised to acknowledge the losses incurred by their armed forces. The Indian narrative of alleged nuclear threat by Pakistan is misleading and self-serving construct and an attempt to veil its own escalatory impulses while shifting blame on Pakistan.
He said it is well known that Pakistan deterred India through its conventional capability, affirming that discipline and restraint remain its guiding principle.
Shafqat Ali Khan said India’s continued reliance on disinformation and jingoism risks destabilizing South Asia. However, as a responsible country, Pakistan remains committed to peace, regional stability and meaningful dialogue for resolution of all outstanding issues including the core dispute of Jammu and Kashmir.
Replying to a question, the Foreign Office Spokesperson said Pakistan is deeply saddened by the passing of Professor Abdul Ghani Butt.

Replying to a question about reports of barring Hurriyat leadership and thousand of other common Kashmiris from attending the funeral prayers of Professor Abdul Ghani Butt by the occupation Indian authorities, the Spokesperson said these developments are yet another manifestation of Indian authorities’ high brutal approach towards the Kashmiri people.
He said earlier the callous handling of the mortal remains of Syed Ali Shah Gilani and the inhuman treatment meted out his family and loved one upon his death.
The Spokesperson said it seems that the local Indian authorities are afraid of even funeral of Hurriyat leaders. However, the Kashmiri people strong desire to right of self-determination cannot be suppressed by such oppression.
