Lahore, 19th July: Pakistan government has called back its ambassador to Afghanistan for consultations after the incident of alleged abduction and release of the Afghan envoy’s daughter.

According to Foreign Office, Pakistan’s Ambassador to Kabul Mansoor Ahmad Khan arrived in Islamabad on Sunday evening for consultations.

It was further informed that the Pakistani Ambassador was called to consult on the incident of the Afghan ambassador’s daughter and will meet the Foreign Secretary at the State Department today.

Pakistan urges Afghanistan to reconsider recall of diplomats

According to the State Department, the issue of calling back the Afghan ambassador and senior diplomatic staff to Kabul will be considered.

The meeting will review the situation arising out of the Afghan government’s recall of ambassadors and senior diplomatic staff to Kabul and also consult on progress on the proposed Afghan peace conference, the State Department said in the statement.

Following the alleged kidnapping of the daughter of the Afghan ambassador to Pakistan, Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi telephoned Afghan counterpart, Muhammad Hanif Attar, to inform him of the steps taken so far by law enforcement agencies in connection with the July 16 incident.
