Lahore, 13th January: Pakistan has selected the Sinopharm vaccine against the treatment of the coronavirus pandemic.
Baaghi TV: Parliamentary Secretary of National Health Services Dr Nausheen Hamid said on Wednesday that Sinopharm has been selected for corona vaccination in Pakistan.
Talking to media Dr Nausheen Hamid said that the government is also in contact with four other vaccine companies. She informed that talks for the procurement of COVID-19 vaccine are in the final stage now.
The parliamentary secretary further said that Pakistan has chosen Sinopharm vaccine for advanced booking, “The consignment of the vaccine is expected to arrive in Pakistan at the end of February or beginning of March.”
She informed that over 3 lakh health workers have registered themselves for the vaccine and that she is hopeful vaccination will begin from the next month.
“The health authorities have taken strict steps to prevent the advanced strain of the coronavirus,” she further said.
It was reported earlier that the Drug Regulatory Authority of Pakistan (DRAP) is expected to approve China’s Sinopharm COVID-19 vaccine for emergency use in Pakistan.
Baaghi TV had also reported that Sinopharm had recently sought permission from Pakistan for emergency use of its COVID-19 vaccine in the country.
Earlier, Pakistan had announced to buy 1.2 million doses of the coronavirus vaccine from Sinopharm.
