Islamabad: Pakistan has laid foundations for better relations with brother country Afghanistan by issuing visas to Afghan cricketers.
According to reports, Pakistan has issued visas to cricketers from Afghanistan in the wake of the upcoming ODI series.
While the alternative travel plan for Afghan cricketers includes travel to Sri Lanka via Pakistan, the ODI series between Pakistan and Afghanistan is scheduled for next month in Sri Lanka.
Reports state that the series is to be hosted by Afghanistan but the changing political climate in the nation along with the coronavirus lockdown in Sri Lanka have so far raised questions about the series being held.
Federal Information Minister Fawad Chaudhry has confirmed that Pakistan has issued a visa to the Afghan cricket team, praying that the Afghan cricket team will bring smiles to the faces of its people.
On the other hand, Afghan cricket captain Hashmatullah Shahidi has met Taliban leader Anas Haqqani. Cricketer Noor Ali Zadran and former Afghan Cricket Board CEO Asadullah Khan were also present at the meeting.
The Taliban leader heard the cricket team’s concerns and assured their support.
