Pakistan issues visas to Afghan cricket team: Fawad
Aug 22, 2021: Information and Broadcasting Minister Chaudhry Fawad Hussain said on Sunday that Pakistan had issued visas to the Afghan cricket team. In a tweet, he said he hoped and prayed that the Afghan cricket team would put a smile on the faces of its people.
Pakistan’s Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Fawad Chaudhry shared this news from his official Twitter account: He wrote: “Pakistan has issued visas to the Afghan cricket team, we hope and pray that the Afghan cricket team People with smiles on their faces. “
The Pakistan-Afghanistan cricket team series was scheduled in Sri Lanka, which announced a 10-day ban on gatherings and other events in view of the growing cases of corona virus. The series is in danger and is expected to relocate to another country.
Afghanistan vs Pakistan ODI is going to be held from September 3, 2021 in all likelihood. No official confirmation of the series has been made yet but Pakistan has issued visas to Afghan players, which makes it almost clear that visas have been issued to Afghans instead of Sri Lanka in the ODI series so that They could reach Sri Lanka via Pakistan and the United Arab Emirates because commercial flights from Kabul have been banned since the Taliban took over Afghanistan.
Earlier, the series was to be played in Afghanistan, but due to the volatile situation in Afghanistan since the Taliban take over, no cricket match could be held in the country. Thus both boards decided to host the series in Sri Lanka as it is a neutral venue. The series cannot be hosted in India as Pakistani players are not allowed to play in India.
According to the travel plan, the entire Afghan team will make a road trip to Pakistan, after which there will be a flight to Colombo.
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) had offered to host the series, but the Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) rejected the request. Now, the series will take place on September 3, 2021 in Hambantota, Sri Lanka.
Earlier, the Afghanistan Cricket Board said the Taliban had decided to allow cricket matches to be played in the country, but there was no confirmation yet about women’s cricket.
