Lahore, 1st June: Pakistan’s locally-made COVID-19 vaccine PakVac is to be launched today.
According to reports, PakVac, the locally-made coronavirus vaccine will be launched on Tuesday in Islamabad.
As per reports, the launching ceremony of PakVac will be held today at the National Institute of Health (NIH) in Islamabad at 4:30 pm.
Sources have informed that Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Health, Dr. Faisal Sultan, and other officials of the NIH will attend the launch ceremony. After the formal launch, the vaccine will be handed over to the Expanded Programme on Immunization (EPI) Pakistan.
EPI will then supply the Pakvac vaccine to the federal and provincial governments.
It is pertinent to mention here that PakVac is the single-dose vaccine made with the help of China’s CanSino Biologics at the NIH.
Baaghi TV reported that the first batch of the PakVac vaccine was manufactured under the supervision of a specialized Chinese team, however, the next batch will now be produced by Pakistani experts.
The sources at the Ministry of National Health revealed that in the first phase, a total of 124,000 CanSino shots have been prepared.
