Foreign Office Spokesperson Shafqat Ali Khan has said repeated Israeli attacks against sovereign states in the region are a matter of grave concern not only for the Muslim Ummah but also for the international community.
Responding to a question during his weekly news briefing in Islamabad ton Friday, he said these provocations represent dangerous pattern that threatens regional peace and stability.
The Spokesperson further said this issue has actively been taken within the OIC, strongly condemning the aggression and expressing full solidarity with the affected countries, the most recent Qatar. He said an extra-ordinary Arab-Islamic summit has also been called in Doha on Monday to deliberate on a joint response. He said the Muslim World remains united in its demand for an end to Israeli hostilities and respect of international law and the UN Charter.
Answering another question, Shafqat Ali Khan said Pakistan is fully capable of defending itself against any external threat. He said Pakistan remains a responsible nuclear state and a proponent of regional peace and security. However, any misadventure or threat to Pakistan’s sovereignty and territorial integrity will be met with a resolute and a calibrated response.
Replying to a question, the Spokesperson said the Indian side shared some information about floods in different rivers through diplomatic channels. However, it is not as detailed as it was in the past. He said the established channel of the Indus Water Commissioners has not been used for data sharing as per requirement of the Indus Water Treaty. He reiterated that India should fully comply with all the provisions of the treaty.
