Pakistan receives 2.5m doses of Moderna vaccine

A consignment of the Moderna vaccines donated by the United States (US) has reached Pakistan marking it a part of the US effort to distribute 80 million doses worldwide.

According to details, a consignment of Moderna vaccine donated by the US was delivered as 2.5 million doses of the vaccine were delivered to Islamabad Airport.

The donation is part of an effort by the United States to distribute 80 million doses worldwide, with the goal of making public access to safe and effective vaccines globally. A statement from the US chargé d’affaires stated that the US diplomatic mission in Pakistan was pleased to distribute the vaccine.

The Ministry of National Health Services, Regulation and Coordination has issued guidelines for the use of Moderna vaccines. This vaccine will be given to overseas Pakistanis and those suffering from chronic diseases.

According to sources, the Moderna vaccine has been approved in Saudi Arabia, the Gulf, Europe, and the United States.

COVAX Pakistan has provided 100,600 doses of Pfizer and 1,238,000 doses of AstraZeneca, while the 18 million doses of coronavirus vaccine purchased by Pakistan has also reached.

It may be recalled that two days ago, a Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) plane had arrived in Islamabad from China carrying 3 million doses of SinoPharm vaccine.
