Lahore, 19th June: Amazon, the biggest e-commerce website of the USA might just be available for Pakistani companies to use.
According to the Baaghi TV report, the Pakistan government has given a list of 38 exporters to be registered with Amazon, the e-commerce giant.
That list has a variety of exporters such as those who sell surgical goods, sports goods and also home textiles, this list will be further expanded and other industries will also get an opportunity to be registered there.
Abdul Razak Dawood, the Adviser to Prime Minister on Commerce and Investment also said that after a successful trial of the shortlisted companies, others will also be given the same opportunity.

A video message of the World Trade Organisation (WTO) director-general, who appreciated Pakistan’s e-commerce policy as a step in the right direction, was also shared with meeting participants.
Dawood also shared that due to the ease of e-commerce; it being available on the internet has also helped in the advancement of the industry and will keep on being improved after more awareness and experience.
Moreover, due to the pandemic people are resorting to online shopping which will further improve the e-commerce industry.

Representatives of the Consumer Protection Councils of Punjab and Lahore and of the Consumer Rights Commission of Pakistan said that the consumer protection laws will also be amended in the near future to include e-commerce and the disputes that arise from it.
They added that webinars were being planned to educate the academia and train judicial officers in consumer protection.
