Pakistan terms Afghan decision to recall diplomatic staff as ‘regrettable’

The Foreign Ministry of Pakistan described Afghanistan’s decision to withdraw its entire diplomatic staff from Islamabad as “unfortunate and regrettable,” the Pakistani Foreign Office (FO) said in a statement. “We hope that the Afghan government will reconsider its decision.”
Silsila Alikhil, daughter of Afghan Ambassador to Islamabad Najibullah Alikhil, was allegedly abducted by unknown individuals on July 16, 2021 (Friday). Afghan officials at the time also accused the kidnappers of torturing Alikhil.
Following the alleged abduction, Afghan officials first expressed concern about the security of the diplomatic staff and called for it to be improved. However, on Sunday, Afghan President Ashraf Ghani instructed all senior staff stationed in Islamabad, including Ambassador Najibullah Alikhil, to leave Pakistan.

The Afghan Foreign Ministry said in a statement: “An Afghan delegation will visit Pakistan soon to assess and follow up on the case and all related issues; subsequent actions will follow based on the findings.”

Amrullah Saleh, Afghanistan’s vice president, said that the “abduction of Afghan ambassador’s daughter & her subsequent torture has wounded the psyche of our nation.”
President @ashrafghani instructed @mfa_afghanistan to call back our ambassador from Islamabad along with all senior diplomats. The abduction of Afgh ambassador's daughter & her subsequent torture has wounded the psyche of our nation. Our national psyche has been tortured.

Afghan Ambassador’s daughter ‘abducted for several hours’
My silence on abduction of Afgh ambassador's daughter in Islamabad is questioned by many. This isn't the first case but the first spectacular case involving a lady. Harassment of diplmts/local staff with integrity who reject collaboration is in the menu of Islambad agencies.

But the Pakistani foreign ministry deplored the Afghan government’s decision, saying Pakistani authorities had been conducting a high-level investigation into the alleged abduction and attack after Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan’s orders. “The security of the ambassador, his family and the staff of the Afghan consulate in Pakistan has also been tightened.”
Pakistan Releases Statement Regarding Abduction of Afghan Ambassador’s Daughter
The Pakistani statement said that the Foreign Secretary met the Afghan Ambassador today, briefed him on all the steps taken in this regard and assured him of all possible cooperation. Earlier on Friday, Kabul said that Silsila Alikhil, the 26-year-old daughter of the Afghan ambassador, had been abducted on her way home and had been severely beaten by her captors.
Meanwhile, Pakistan’s Interior Minister Sheikh Rashid Ahmed has claimed that the abduction of the Afghan ambassador’s daughter was part of an “international conspiracy” carried out by India’s intelligence agency, the Research and Analysis Wing (RAW).
