Pakistan has urged renewed international solidarity with Syria during its political transition, calling for the easing of sanctions, sustained reconstruction efforts, and upholding Syria’s sovereignty.

At the UN Security Council briefing on the humanitarian and political situation in Syria, Acting Permanent Representative of Pakistan Ambassador Usman Jadoon reaffirmed Pakistan’s support for a “Syrian-led and Syrian-owned” political process.

He welcomed the 5th October 2025 parliamentary elections for the People’s Assembly of Syria, noting it as a “significant step in Syria’s ongoing transition,” and the gradual restoration of governance structures.
