Lahore, 28th May: Pakistan welcomes the resolution passed by the United Nations against Israel.
Baaghi TV: Pakistan has welcomed the UN resolution against Israel’s grave violations of international law and human rights in Gaza.
A Foreign Office spokesman said on Friday that the decision to set up a special HRC meeting and an international commission to investigate human rights abuses was a global commitment to end instability and injustice and begin a process of meaningful accountability.
The spokesman said that Pakistan stands united with the Palestinian people and shares the expectations of the international community for the effective implementation of this resolution to ensure respect for the rights and dignity of the Palestinian people as well as international law.
Following a special UN meeting between the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) and the Palestinian delegation on Thursday, 24 of the 47 countries voted in favor of the resolution, while nine voted against it.
The resolution calls for the establishment of an independent commission of inquiry to monitor and report on human rights abuses in Gaza, and the occupied West Bank and East Jerusalem.
According to the text, the commission will also investigate ‘the root causes of repeated tensions, instability and conflict prevention, including discrimination and repression.
