ISLAMABAD, August 23 (Online Int’l): The Customs and NLC authorities have caught Pakistani & Foreign currency worth millions during the past 8 months at Pak-Afghan Torkham Border, while the smuggling of drugs, local and foreign weapons worth millions, and smuggling of people has also been foiled.
According to documents issued by NLC officials, during the last 8 months the smuggling of 492,000 American Dollars, 1,669,000 Saudi Riyals, 53,000 Euros, 82,414,000 Pakistani currency, 1,742,000 Afghani currency, 100,000 Emirati Dirham and 17,000 Qatari Riyal has been foiled whereas 1,536,000 fake Afghani currency and 78,000 fake American Dollars has been confiscated.
According to the document nine 30 bore pistols, five 9mm pistols, nineteen local made pistols, seventy-five 12 bore guns and two hundred and nineteen 12 bore pistols have been recovered from people who were crossing the Pak-Afghan border.
The document further stated that 43 kilograms of hashish, 23 kilograms of opium, 9 kilograms of heroin, 35 kilograms of crystal (ICE) and 6,665 prohibited drugs and pills were taken into custody.
Two hundred and seven 12 bore rifles, two metric and more than 26 kilograms of valuable stones, as well as 1126 suspicious cars were seized, whereas 45 Afghanis and 2 Pakistani stowaways hiding the cars were arrested on the checkpost of NLC at Pak-Afghan border.
