Pakistan’s first environment-friendly electric bike launched

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan has launched Pakistan’s first environment-friendly electric bike. The event was held in Islamabad.

While addressing the ceremony, PM Khan said that we should promote use of electric vehicles to reduce air pollution which has reached at the dangerous levels in the country.

Prime Minister Imran highlighted that the level of air pollution in Lahore would reduce the life expectancy of a human by eleven years.

He said that the government has introduced electric vehicle policy under Clean and Green Pakistan project as billions of trees are being planted and national parks are being set up to across the country to increase greenery.

He further pointed out that we reduced our forest areas that British left us. Now, we have the lowest greenery in our country. Due to growing population, cities are expanding causing a reduction in green areas.

Government is working on master plans to prevent pollution issues and cities expanding.

Thes E-bikes has been manufactured by a Pakistani firm, Jolta Electric. This company has taken a major step towards electrifying the country’s automobile industry.

The E-bike will be available in various models including scooty and sports bike is energy efficient and requires low maintenance.

Last year, the incumbent government had approved a five-year Pakistan Electric Vehicles Policy which will target a robust electric vehicle market having a 30 per cent and 90 per cent share in passenger vehicles and heavy duty trucks by 2030 and 2040.
