Pakistan’s important role in the United Nations, influenced by the views of Prime Minister Imran Khan, claims newly elected, Volkan Bozkir.

According to the reports of Baaghi TV, Prime Minister Imran Khan had a meeting with the President of the United Nations (UN) General Assembly, Volkan Bozkir.

Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi also accompanied him on the occasion. The Prime Minister warmly congratulated Mr. Bozkir on his election as President of the historic 75th session of the UN General Assembly.

During the meeting, Prime Minister Imran Khan apprised the PGA elected officials of the dire situation in Occupied Jammu and Kashmir, an issue that has been on the UN Security Council agenda for more than seven decades.

Prime Minister Imran Khan highlighted the serious and human rights situation in Occupied Kashmir from 5 August 2019, as well as human rights violations of the Kashmiri people and efforts to change the demographic structure of the Occupied Territories.

Prime Minister Imran Khan stressed that the United Nations must address the critical situation and implement the relevant UN Security Council resolutions on the right to self-determination.

The Prime Minister highlighted the demand for a “global debt relief initiative” and stressed the need for developing countries to provide more financial space to overcome the harmful social and economic effects of the corona virus epidemic.

Prime Minister Imran Khan also highlighted the importance attached to tackling climate change, combating Islamophobia, and combating illicit financial flows from developing countries. He expressed the hope that the 75th session of the United Nations would give priority to these issues, which affected billions of people around the world.

After meeting Prime Minister Imran Khan, Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi said that he was grateful to UN General Assembly President Volkan Bozkir for his visit to Islamabad. He briefed Volkan Bozkir on human rights violations in Occupied Kashmir, and on Pakistan’s role in bringing peace to Afghanistan.
