Mohammad Sadiq Khan, Pakistan’s Special Envoy for Afghanistan, is expected to visit Kabul early next week.

Pakistani media have reported that the main purpose of his trip is to hold talks with officials of the Islamic Emirate on security issues.

According to Pakistani media reports: “Special Representative of Pakistan on Afghanistan as Special Assistant to Prime Minister, with status of Minister of State, Ambassador Muhammad Sadiq Khan will visit Kabul early next week with a stern Pakistan’s message for Afghanistan regarding facilitation of Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) by Kabul regime and provision of safe havens for them on Afghan soil.”

Political analyst Omid Safi said: “Pakistan has always shifted its problems onto others. The issue of the Pakistani Taliban is Pakistan’s internal matter, not Afghanistan’s. This country has openly interfered in Afghanistan’s war for the past four decades.”

Meanwhile, some political and military experts expressed different views regarding this visit.

Political analyst Rahmatullah Behnazpur said: “Afghanistan must equip itself with strong and dominant reasoning, both to respond to accusations and to provide justification, as well as to ensure security in the region and build confidence, because neighboring countries and major world powers direct their accusations toward Afghanistan, not Pakistan.”

Najib-ur-Rahman Shamal, an international relations expert, said: “The delegations coming from Pakistan to Afghanistan will achieve nothing unless they act with honesty and sincerity, and unless they take positive steps against terrorism from their own soil.”

So far, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has neither confirmed nor denied the visit. The Islamic Emirate has repeatedly emphasized that Afghan soil will not be used against any country.
