shah mehmood qureshi meets palestinian ambassador to pakistan

ISLAMABAD, May 17, 2021: After a meeting with Pakistan’s foreign minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi on Monday, Palestine’s ambassador to Pakistan, Ahmed Jawad AA Rabaei expressed gratitude towards Pakistan on its unflagging support for the Palestinian cause.

The envoy lauded Pakistan’s continuing support and steadfast stance on the Palestine issue and also praised Pakistan’s efforts to engage and garner the attention of the international community towards the plight of the oppressed Palestinian population.

The violence employed by Israel against worshipers in the Al Aqsa Mosque during Ramadan and the consequent air strikes by the Israeli defense forces on the Gaza strip were strongly condemned by Shah Mahmood Qureshi in a statement issued from the Foreign Office.

Qureshi conveyed deep condolences and expressed sorrow over the innocent Palestinian lives lost in the West Bank and Gaza as a result of continuous, indiscriminate, and lethal Israeli army attacks, the current death toll of which stands at 140 martyred including 39 children.

During the meeting, Shah Mahmood Qureshi reassured Ambassador Rabaei of Pakistan’s ongoing efforts, including how Pakistan was attempting an outreach with important regional partners to gain traction for an effort to liberate Palestine.

Ambassador Rabaei used the occasion to apprise the foreign minister about the latest situation on ground, which was bad enough with medical aid during the pandemic, and was now compounded by the unceasing violence resulting in a humanitarian disaster with Palestinians suffering more than ever.
