PAMA Releases Monthly Report for July Car Sales

The Pakistan Automotive Manufacturers Association (PAMA) has released the monthly car sales report for July 2021. Overall, the car industry had outstanding sales last month. 

According to data released by the PAMA, passenger car sales surged 104% across the country in July 2021, with analysts crediting the spike to an auto-friendly policy and resumption of business activities post the coronavirus lockdown. As per the data, passenger car sales increased to 20,669 units in the period under review, which compared to the same month last year, showed sales of 10,123 units.

Toyota sold 6,715 vehicles in the last month, which is 48% more than the sales in a month and 66% more in the financial year. On the other hand, Suzuki Pakistan Motors sold 15,181 vehicles in July, spiking up by 159% from last month and 204% more in the financial year.

Honda Atlas sold 2,307 vehicles during the month, which saw a decline in sales, down 30% from a single month and an annual decline of 6%, while Hyundai sold 627 vehicles during the month, recording a 4% increase in sales.

On the other hand, apart from these companies, Lucky Motors, Master Changan Motors, Regal Motors and Al-Haj Proton have also sold vehicles in the country, but since these companies are not members of PAMA, no statistics could be obtained regarding them.

According to the data released, the number of sales of Cultus in Suzuki’s vehicles in June 2021 was 2,720 while in July it sold 4,213 units, an increase of 86%. Alto sold 1,216 units in June 2021, compared to 6,110 units sold in July, a 402% increase in sales.

The Suzuki Wagon R sold 854 units in June 2021, compared to 2,131 units sold in July, an increase of 150 percent.However, Bolan sold 187 units in June 2021, compared to 950 units sold in July, an increase of 408 percent. Swift sold 208 units in June 2021 and 225 units in July, an increase of 8%.

As far as Indus Motors is concerned, Toyota Corolla’s sales in June 2021 were 1,862 units while in July it sold 2,320 units, an increase of 25%. On the other hand, Toyota Yaris sold 1,876 units in June 2021, compared to 2,700 units sold in July, an increase of 44%. However, Fortuner sold 412 units in June 2021, compared to 418 units sold in July, an increase of 1% and Hilux sold 385 units in June 2021, compared to 1277 units sold in July, an increase of 232%.

Honda Atlas sold 2,826 units of the City and Civic in June 2021, compared to 1,700 units sold in July, a 40 percent drop in sales, while BRV sold 479 units in June 2021 and 607 units in July, an increase of 27%.

Hyundai Nishat Motors’ Tuscan sold 231 units in June 2021, compared to 175 units sold in July, a 24 percent drop in sales. The same company’s Elantra sold 270 units in June 2021, compared to 157 units sold in July, a 42 percent drop in sales.
