Lahore, 5th June: PCB announces Central Contract 2020-21 for women cricketers.

 

According to Baaghi TV, nine women cricketers, including spinner Anam Amin and batsman Umaima Sohail, have been included in the central contract with effect from July 1. The contract has been promoted.

In this regard, the PCB has increased the compensation of all categories included in the Central Contract.

Category A: Monthly income has been increased by 33%, B by 30% and C by 25%.

In addition, the PCB has created a new category to appreciate the performance of young cricketers who have excelled and to further attract them to the game.

The list of emerging categories includes 16-year-old Syeda Arub Shah, 15-year-old Ayesha Naseem and 22-year-old Muneeba Ali, Fatima Sana, Kainat Hafeez, Najia Alvi, Ramin Shamim, Saba Nazir and Sadia Iqbal.

PCB withdraws service notices

The PCB has also increased the compensation for domestic events. The match fees and prize money for these events have been increased by 100% while the domestic daily allowance has been increased by 50%.

In addition, the PCB has announced that Bismah Maroof will retain the captaincy for the 2020-21 season, but it has been decided that the contract of head coach Iqbal Imam will not be extended. Iqbal Imam’s services have been handed back to the High Performance Setup. An advertisement for the appointment of Head Coach will be issued on time.

Central Contract for 2020-21:

Category A: Bismah Maroof, Jawariya Khan
Category B: Alia Riaz, Diana Baig and Sidra Nawaz
Category C: Anam Amin, Nahida Khan, Umaima Sohail and Nada Dar
Emerging Contract List: Syeda Arub Shah, Ayesha Naseem, Muneeba Ali, Fatima Sana, Kainat Hafeez, Najia Alvi, Ramin Shamim, Saba Nazir and Sadia Iqbal.

Muneeba Ali, who scored 292 runs at an average of over 58 in the National Twenty20 Championship, scored a century and three half-centuries in five matches of the event. She won the Player of the Match award for her performance. The 16-year-old spinner was named the best bowler of the national one-day championship.

In the next 12 months, the national women’s cricket team has to participate in the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup qualifiers and the ACC Women’s Twenty20 Cup. Meanwhile, the national under-19 women’s cricket team is to participate in the ICC Under-19 Women’s Twenty20 World Cup.

Urooj Mumtaz, Chief Selector National Women’s Cricket:

Chief selector National Women’s Cricket Urooj Mumtaz said that on behalf of the selection committee, she congratulated the players who got central contracts.

He said that before the announcement of the Central Contract, the selection committee held a lengthy consultation where the performance and fitness of the national women athletes was measured during the last 12 months.

Urooj Mumtaz says that Bismah Maroof and Jawariya Khan, who have done well for Pakistan in the field of batting this year, have been included in the A category of the Central Contract. She said that Bismah Maroof scored 213 runs at an average of 42.60 in ODI cricket and 236 runs at an average of 39.33 in T20 cricket this year. Both the cricketers were earlier part of B category.

Urooj Mumtaz said that fast bowler Diana Baig, who has been leading Pakistan’s bowling attack in the last 12 months, has also been promoted to the B category by a promotion in the Central Contract due to her excellent performance. Wicketkeeper Sidrah Nawaz is also part of Category B.

Expressing happiness over the inclusion of Umaima Sohail and Anam Amin in the central contract, Urooj Mumtaz said that the continuity of Umaima Sohail’s performance and Anam Amin’s excellent bowling in T20 cricket has played an important role in getting them contracted.

The Chair of National Women’s Cricket says that Nida Dar has been demoted in the category due to not performing as expected in international cricket. However, she is a key member and she is confident that she will be able to perform at her best soon. She said that after 6 months, the overall performance of the national women players included in the central contract will be reviewed.

Urooj Mumtaz said that she congratulates Bismah Maroof on her appointment as the captain for the 2020-21 season. She said that Bismah Maroof has excelled in T20 and ODI cricket and the players are benefiting a lot from her dressing room, ground and squad leadership.

She said that she was happy with the announcement of the newly formed emerging category. She added that the nine women cricketers in this category are the assets of the future and she hoped that the announcement would inspire young players.
