PCB planning to host major international cricket events

Lahore, 11th June: At an International Cricket Council (ICC) meeting this month, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) plans to offer hosting major international events.

According to reports, PCB has planned to place offers to hold at least five major international events in the country at an International Cricket Council (ICC) meeting this month.

As per reports, the ICC is looking for bids to host rights of men’s cricket events from the year 2024 to 2031.

The major men’s events planned are:

  • Four T20 World Cups
  • Two ODI World Cups
  • Two Champions Trophy events

As per reports, the T20 World Cups will be held in the years 2024, 2026, 2028, and 2030.

The ODI World Cups are to be held in 2026 and then in 2030.

The Champions Trophy is planned to be held in 2024 and then in 2028.

The World Test Championship finals are planned to take place after every two years, in 2025, 2027, 2029, and 2031.

In a special message, the ICC has asked PCB chairman Ehsan Mani to submit his bids.

A source told The News that Pakistan is planning to submit a strong bid for major international events to be held during this period.

Source also revealed that Pakistan will submit bids to co-host the T20 World Cup and single-host the Champions Trophy which will be held in 2024.

It is reported that Pakistan may host major international cricket events between 2024 to 2031. Pakistan may host the T20 World Cup of 50 overs aside World Cup as a co-host with either the UAE, Sri Lanka or Bangladesh.

There are good chances that Pakistan might host the T20 World Cup in 2024 jointly with the UAE and the World Cup in 2026 with Sri Lanka.

Meanwhile, Pakistan plans to single-host the 8-team Champions Trophy in 2024. Lahore, Karachi and Rawalpindi could be the venues for hosting the matches.
