PEMRA suspends license of 24 News Channel

Lahore, 3rd July: Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) has reportedly suspended the license of Channel 24 and Current Affairs for violating the rules.

A statement issued by PEMRA said that under the license issued by Central Media Network, it was authorized to run entertainment-related content on Value TV channel while the company was illegally violating all PEMRA rules.

However, it is reported that the company is broadcasting news and current affairs content by the name od Channel 24.

Despite repeated prohibitions by PEMRA and the issuance of several notices, the Central Media Network continued to broadcast news and current affairs programs on the channel.

In this regard, the authority had issued a show cause notice on May 7, 2020, under which the company was ordered to immediately close down news and current affairs content and broadcast approved entertainment content.

According to sources, despite providing several opportunities, the channel management failed to implement PEMRA’s orders.
