LAHORE: Minister for Human Rights and Minority Affairs Ejaz Alam Augustine has said that people belonging to all religions living in Pakistan, enjoying complete religious freedom.

The Punjab Government had celebrated all the festival of religious minorities at official level to eleminate sense of deprivation among religious minorities, arisen in the past. He said that a book White in Flag has been published by the Human Rights Department and now another book on all religions is going to be published in collaboration with Bargad to make people aware of their rights will approve a milestone in the field of human rights. These views were expressed by the Provincial Minister Ijaz Alam while attending a consultative meeting in the committee room of New Minister Block on Wednesday. the session was organized by the youth welfare organization Bargad in association with the Human Rights Department. Head of Bargad Sabiha Shaheen briefed to the participants on the forthcoming book religions of Pakistan while the modalities of its dissemination also discussed in the session. Sabiha Shaheen told the participants that the purpose of today’s gathering is to ensure the protection of the rights of every individual in the society through mutual consultation and to formulate a comprehensive policy. Provincial Minister for Human Rights Ejaz Alam in his address said that the Punjab government has ensured the elimination of hateful material from 188 textbooks under equal treatment of religious minorities. Different training sessions held especially in police academies to protect of human rights. He further said that a Human Rights Chair has been set up in Punjab University for the promotion and protection of human rights while the draft Interfaith Harmony Policy has been sent to the Cabinet for approval. Praising Bargad for his philanthropic work, the Provincial Minister for Human Rights said that Bargad, like other social work organizations taking very good steps for the youth and hoped book would play a key role in protecting human rights.The meeting was attended by school administration, members of different communities, representatives of government departments, students and members of the Department of Human Rights and Minority Affairs.
