PIA terminates services of 28 employees for various violations

Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) Human Resources (HR) department has released statistics regarding disciplinary action against employees in the month of August.

According to the details, 74 employees of the national airline were fired in Auguest after being found guilty by respective inquiry officer/committee.

These employees were found to have fake education certificates, negligence of duty, damage to property, bribery, smuggling, drug use and etc. According to the report, HR department of the national flag carrier demoted four employees while eleven were given various disciplinary punishments.

At the same time, 17 employees were given certificates of appreciation for high performance and 5 were also given cash prizes. Earlier, the national airline management fired 41 and 62 employees in the month of June and July, respectively.

PIA withdraws its staff from Europe

‘The accountability process in PIA is being brought to a logical conclusion as soon as possible so that the institution can be cleansed of black sheeps. The long-delayed inquiries and investigations are being completed soon,’ said the PIA spokesman.

There is no place in the PIA for negligence of duty and elements involved in crime and acting on them is a key part of the PIA’s reform process, he added.
