PIA announces pilots' salary cuts to curb job losses

Karachi: Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) management has decided to reduce the salaries of their pilots by 25% in the wake of financial losses due to the coronavirus.

According to the details, the PIA administration has decided to reduce the salaries and benefits of the pilots. The salaries of the pilots will be reduced by 25% and the allowance will be paid only after completing 50 flying hours per month.

The PIA pilots will be paid 50 hours guarantee allowance instead of 75 hours, while the allowance will be paid only after completing 50 flying hours per month.

It may be recalled that in June this year, the PIA administration had started cutting the salaries of employees by 10% to 25% under which

  • Salary ranging from 100,001 to 200,000 will have to bear 10% deduction
  • Salary ranging from 200,001 to 500,000 will have to bear 20% deduction
  • Salary ranging from 500,001 onwards will have to bear 25% deduction
