PIA flight operation temporarily resumed by EU & UK

The European Union (EU) member states have allowed the Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) to operate till July 3, 2020.

According to the details, foreign secretary contacted ambassadors of all EU member countries and discussed regarding the matter. On which the national carrier has been allowed to land and overflight United Kingdom (UK) and Europe from July 1 to 3.

The PIA administration, the Foreign Ministry and Pakistan’s ambassador are in constant contact with European officials.

EASA suspends PIA flight operation to Europe

PIA’s Flight Number PK-785 Islamabad to London & PK-786 London to Islamabad for 01 July 2020 will operate as per the intended schedule. Other flights will be announced soon, said their spokesman, Abdullah Khan.

Earlier today, the European Union Air Safety Agency (EASA) suspended PIA’s air operations permit for EU countries for six months, taking effect on the night of July 1, 2020, according to UTC time. As a result, the airline temporarily cancelled all its flights to Europe, however, passengers who have a booking will have the option to extend the booking or get a refund.

UK CAA suspends PIA flight operations

PIA was in constant contact with the EASA and was taking corrective measures to address their concerns and an appeal is also being filed. PIA hopes that the suspension will be lifted as soon as possible as a result of steps taken by the government and the administration in this regard.

Moreover, British Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) also suspended the national carrier flight operations. PIA flights from Birmingham, London and Manchester were suspended, according to the CAA UK spokesperson.
